CBD Guidance

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound found in the cannabis plant. It’s one of over one hundred different cannabinoid that have been identified so far. Unlike the other major cannabinoid THC, CBD is non-psychoactive. CBD interacts with the human body through the endocannabinoid system, abbreviated ECS. The ECS is in charge of regulating biological functions such as sleep, our immune systems, and our mood.

No. CBD is considered to be a non-psychoactive cannabinoid so it will not get you high in the way that ‘marijuana’ or ‘weed’ (containing THC) gets you high. But CBD is known to be relaxing so many users feel a sense of subtle relaxation and relief.

Using CBD is legal in the UK as long as it contains less than 0.2% THC. As THC is a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. CBD is legal in the UK as long as it has been derived from an industrial hemp strain that is approved by the UK.

Generally we recommend starting on 60mg per day. However, the amount of CBD to use depends on the purpose of use and your personal circumstances. We see others recommending to start at a lower dose and work your way up – however, this can lead you to believe that CBD does not work should you require a higher dose. We therefore recommend it is best to start from a high dose and lower it until you feel that the dosage is right for you.

You may have read or heard about CBD being used by people with pain, anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, arthritis and a wide variety other conditions.

We regret that due to government regulations, we are unable to offer advice regarding using CBD for specific complaints or conditions.

There have been many studies into the effects of CBD, however this research is still fairly new so further research is required to better understand the potential of cannabidiol.

We have hundreds of excellent reviews from our customers regarding CBD products and their effects.

CBD is not psychoactive in the way that THC is psychoactive and it will not get you high. However CBD can have an effect on your mental state. Many users of CBD report feeling a very subtle feeling of relaxation, serenity, alertness, or mental clarity from taking CBD.

CBD has been shown to be safe to use in high doses. CBD will not cause a fatal overdose. However it is possible to take too much CBD. The main consequence being an increased chance of negative side effects like lethargy, drowsiness or extreme sleepiness.

The endocannabinoid system is the collection of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes involved in the production and break down of endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring cannabinoids found within our body. The two most studied endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-AG. The two most studies cannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are located mostly in the brain and CB2 receptors are located mostly throughout the immune system.

While almost everything can be addictive, CBD is not recognised to be an addictive drug. Moreover, CBD has showed significant promise as a tool for assisting people in breaking their addictions to harmful substances.

The length of time it takes for CBD to take effect will depend on the route of administration. The fastest effect will be felt from smoking or vaporisation (effects felt in minutes). Topical administration of CBD will be felt quickly as well. The next fastest effect will be felt from a sublingual dosage of an oil (onset of effects in 15 – 60 minutes). The slowest effect (but the longest lasting) will be felt from oral ingestion of capsules or edibles (onset felt in 90 minutes).

Absolutely, we are proud of the quality of our products and know how important it is for you to ensure you are buying a legitimate CBD product. We are currently working on making our lab reports available to view on our website. We will then be happy to send you the lab test reports for the corresponding batch.

CBD Oil

CBD Oil drops or ‘CBD tongue drops’ provide a method to take CBD in liquid form. A quality product will consist of a carrier oil (we use Hemp Seed oil) and cannabidiol extract.

The most common and effective method for taking CBD oil is to take it sublingually (drops placed under the tongue). However, they can also be added to food and drinks or even applied directly to the skin.

The effect will be felt between 15 to 60 minutes after consumption. Placing CBD oil under the tongue rather than swallowing it might not seem like much of a difference, but the structure of the tongue may provide a quicker delivery. The underside of the tongue contains a mucous membrane that can absorb CBD and transfer it to the blood more effectively than if it had to go through the gut. You can expect to feel CBD’s peak effects at around 2 hours after consumption.

The optimal dosage for CBD differs from person to person and can depend on several factors including body weight, height and tolerance. We generally recommend a daily dose of around 60mg per day.

With higher strengths you’ll find you will need to take far less drops to achieve your daily dosage, which will be more cost-effective for you.

When comparing hemp oil vs. CBD oil, the key difference is that the two products come from different parts of the hemp plant. Hemp oil comes from the seeds, and CBD oil can be extracted from the stems and leaves. Hemp oil is unrefined whereas cannabidiol oil is usually highly refined in order to isolate the most beneficial compounds of the plant.

CBD Disposable Vapes

Our disposable Vape Pen works using an electronic battery to power a coil that vaporises an e-liquid, creating a flavoured vapour. This vapour contains CBD, and it’s inhaled similarly to a cigarette (but lacks those 60+ harmful chemicals found in smoking tobacco). This product is rechargeable but not re-fillable.

  • Each puff contains approximately 0.45mg of CBD
  • 100 Puffs = Approximately 45mg of CBD
  • 330 Puffs = Approximately 148mg of CBD

Vaping CBD is one of the fastest ways to get CBD into your system. You will usually feel the effects within minutes of using.

CBD E-Liquids

The most common feeling you’ll gain from vaping CBD is one of calmness. The compound is commonly used to soothe chronic pain and injuries, as well as aid with anxiety and stress. As such, it’s much heralded for mood improvement, relaxation, comfort, and pain relief.

Generally we recommend starting on 60mg per day.

The achieve this amount of liquid you need to consume depends on the total strength of the bottle. This guide should help:

(1000mg Bottle) 1ml = 20mg, 3ml per day gives 60mg

(3000mg Bottle) 1ml = 60mg.

(5000mg Bottle) 1ml= 100mg, 0.6ml per day gives 60mg

The higher the strength of the bottle, the less you need to consume to achieve your required dosage.

Vaping CBD is one of the fastest ways to get CBD into your system. You will usually feel the effects within minutes of using.

You can do both. Our CBD e-liquid is ready to use on its own but if you prefer to mix it with standard vape liquid, that’s fine too.

Our CBD liquid has a ratio of 60%PG and 40%VG meaning it will work well with most vape devices. If you are unsure please contact us with your device brand and model for a definitive answer.

When it comes to what wattage to vape CBD e liquid, the answer is, keep it low. Cranking up your watts too high is going to get the coil too hot and you can end up burning and wasting your CBD. Ideally, you want to keep your watts low, at around 10 to 30 watts maximum.

CBD Terpene E-Liquids

Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and some animals. They’re responsible for the aromas, flavors, and even colors associated with various types of vegetation. In terms of cannabis, terpenes are what make certain strains smell or taste different from others. Each terpene flavour profile has its own unique benefits and effects.

The most common feeling you’ll gain from vaping CBD is one of calmness. The compound is commonly used to soothe chronic pain and injuries, as well as aid with anxiety and stress. As such, it’s much heralded for mood improvement, relaxation, comfort, and pain relief. In addition to the CBD the added terpenes provide unique benefits and propeties with each flavour profile.

CBD is not psychoactive in the way that THC is psychoactive and it will not get you high. However CBD can have an effect on your mental state. Many users of CBD report feeling a very subtle feeling of relaxation, serenity, alertness, or mental clarity from taking CBD.

Terpenes, which aren’t unique to cannabis plants (other plants contain them as well), do more than affect the taste and smell of a specific strain. They also play a role in the effects you feel when you use terpene infused products. They can help to alleviate pain, allow you to relax, and even improve your mood.

Each terpene flavour profile has it’s own unique effects. Please see the product description for a detailed guide.

Vaping CBD is one of the fastest ways to get CBD into your system. You will usually feel the effects within minutes of using.

Strain-specific terpenes will taste more like the cannabis strain, not so much the food or fruit it’s named after. For example, Bubblegum OG tastes like hash, spice, hemp and very subtle fruity sweets, just like the cannabis strain. It doesn’t taste sugary sweet like actual bubblegum. Our non-terpene eliquids taste more like actual fruits and sweets for those looking for a sweeter vape.

Generally we recommend starting on 60mg per day.

CBD Softgels

While a softgel can be referred to as a capsule, it is actually a capsule made up of a gelatin mixture within which cannabidiol (CBD) is enclosed. The gelatinous shell seals the CBD, protecting it from light and air, which can damage the oil. The gelatin is usually mixed with other compounds, such as glycerin or sorbitol.

While they may be similar in form and function, there are vital differences between softgels and capsules, namely:

  • Softgels are usually easier to swallow than capsules
  • Capsules aren’t as good for containing oils such as CBD
  • Softgels are sealed so they have a longer shelf life
  • You can’t taste CBD when taking softgels, whereas you sometimes can with capsules
  • Softgels are smoother than regular capsules
  • It is more expensive to manufacture softgels
  • Softgels absorb more quickly as they contain a carrier oil that dissolves the CBD, making them more effective.

While many more studies need to be done on CBD and its benefits, there is scientific evidence from past studies that support the many anecdotal claims made by CBD users. From the studies that have been conducted, it is clear that researchers prefer oral administration when testing the effects of CBD, especially in the form of capsules, as it is easier to measure the amount of CBD in a self-contained capsule than in an oil or tincture.

There is evidence from this research that CBD softgels have many benefits, such as:

  • Easy dosing
  • Potential to soothe inflammation and relieve pain
  • Easy to swallow with no taste
  • More effective
  • Longer shelf life
  • Reducing seizures
  • Helping with depression and anxiety

When taking CBD softgels, always make sure you follow the instructions found on the packaging and ensure you don’t exceed the recommended dose. You take softgels by placing them on your tongue and swallowing them with water.

You can take CBD softgels anywhere, anytime. They are discreet and look like any other supplement, so you won’t have to answer any awkward questions.

Try taking the softgels at the same time every day so that your body gets into a routine and increases the effectiveness of CBD

CBD softgels can take anywhere between 1 to 2 hours to take effect.

Most people prefer to take their Softgels in the morning as part of their daily wellness regimen. You may find that an afternoon serving works better. CBD Softgels are also an enjoyable way to promote balance in the evenings before bed. While CBD itself doesn’t have sedative effects, it can promote better sleep by keeping your body in homeostasis.

No, our softgels contain gelatine.

CBD Gummies

CBD Gummies are edible sweets that contain cannabidiol (CBD) oil. Our Gummies are mixed fruit flavoured, contain 30mg of CBD per Gummy and are Full Spectrum meaning they contain all the cannabinoids, including less than 1mg of THC.

Our CBD gummies are made in much the same way as other types of sweets, except for one key difference: they contain extracts from Cannabis sativa (hemp plants) and are made with high-quality, natural ingredients that make these sweet treats non-GMO, and gluten-free.

CBD has been shown in clinical studies and a mountain of anecdotal evidence to be a potentially effective treatment for many chronic and acute conditions related to:

  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Insomnia
  • PTSD
  • Epilepsy
  • Arthritis
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Crohn’s disease

For those suffering from extreme chronic or severe acute conditions, CBD gummies may be a more effective way of dosing CBD as the effects last longer, providing relief for several hours at a time.

The cannabinoids in these tasty treats are absorbed through your digestive system and interact with receptors found throughout your body.

This interaction is believed to help modulate a variety of important functions, including pain perception, mood, memory and appetite. As a result, CBD gummies are thought to provide the same therapeutic benefits as other CBD products, without the added hassle of measuring out doses or using droppers.

CBD Gummies can take anywhere between 1 to 2 hours to take effect. Gummies work slower than other CBD products because they must first be digested before the CBD can enter your bloodstream and start to work. However, this also means that the effects of edibles tend to last longer – up to 4-6 hours in some cases.

Turmeric & Black Pepper Tablets

Turmeric and Black Pepper each have health benefits, due to the compounds curcumin and piperine. As piperine enhances curcumin absorption in the body by up to 2000%, combining the spices magnifies their effects. They might lessen inflammation and enhance digestion, especially if taken as supplements.

1. Curcumin is a natural anti-inflammatory compound
2. Turmeric can increase the antioxidant capacity of the body
3. Curcumin can boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor
4. Curcumin may lower your risk of heart disease
5. Turmeric may help prevent cancer
6. Curcumin may be useful in treating Alzheimer’s disease
7. Arthritis patients respond well to curcumin supplements
8. Curcumin has benefits against depression
9. Curcumin may help delay ageing and fight age-related chronic diseases

The key compounds in turmeric are called curcuminoids.
Curcumin itself is the most active ingredient and appears to be the most important.

Curcumin is a polyphenol that has many health benefits. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties in addition to being a potent antioxidant.

However, curcumin’s poor absorption by the body is one of its most significant drawbacks, which is why our tablets include piperine to increase curcumin absorption.

Piperine, a bioactive compound found in black pepper, is an alkaloid similar to capsaicin, the active ingredient found in chilli powder and cayenne pepper.

Piperine has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to help relieve nausea, headaches, and poor digestion.

However, its most significant benefit may be its ability to increase curcumin absorption.

Turmeric does not provide a quick fix, so you will need to take it on a daily basis to see results. If you’re wondering how long it takes turmeric to work, it depends on the individual. However, when taken on a daily basis, you should expect to see results in 4-8 weeks.

Most people find that taking turmeric in the morning to start their day or before bed to combat inflammation from the day’s activities works well for them. We also recommend taking turmeric with a meal because curcumin absorption is increased when combined with healthy fats.

Yes, our Stronglife Turmeric & Black Pepper Tablets are Vegan, Halal & Kosher.

According to this guide from the NHS, turmeric and curcumin shouldn’t be taken by people who have any of the following:

  • Obstruction of the bile duct
  • Cholangitis
  • Liver disease
  • Gallstones

Turmeric can also negatively interact with some prescription medications and may cause strong side effects in people who are immunosuppressed, or having treatment for cancer.

For this reason, it’s a good idea to double check with your GP before you start taking these supplements.

Curcumin and piperine are generally considered safe.

After taking large doses of curcumin, some people may experience nausea, headaches, and skin rashes. As a result, it is critical to follow the dosage recommendations on the supplement packaging
(take one or two tablets daily with water, do not exceed stated dose).
